Born in Chernivtsi (Ukraine), he studied at the State Gnessin Music Conservatory in Moscow, studying singing under Prof. Natalja Schpiller. From 1972 to 1992, he was a soloist with the Moscow Chamber Choir, performing solo parts in works by many composers, ranging from Bach to Shostakovich and Schnittke. He also performed as a countertenor, notably in Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

He has undertaken many guest tours, including trips to the USA, Canada, Japan, Austria, France, Italy, Sweden, and the Netherlands. In 1988, he performed with the Bolshoi Theatre in Cologne (Philharmonie), Witten, West Berlin, and Boston. He has performed with various orchestras under the direction of A. Lazarev, W. Spivakov, G. Rozhdestvensky, W. Fedoseyev, and M. Jurowski.

Since 1993, he has been a member of the Cologne Radio Choir as a freelance artist. He has also performed numerous solo parts in oratorios, masses, and cantatas in cities such as Aachen (Eurogress), Bonn, Cologne, Düsseldorf (Tonhalle), Altenberg (Cathedral), Speyer (Cathedral), Neviges (Cathedral), Neuss, Hilden (City Hall), Essen, Münster, Munich, Oldenburg (Cultural Center), and more. He has given concerts in Mexico, France, Italy – Pontremoli (Music Festival “Gateway to Tuscany”), Florence, Rome, and Spain (Granada, Córdoba).
