Elena Potthast-Borisovets (organ, voice) was born in 1977 in St. Petersburg. She began her studies in choral conducting at the Professional Music College of the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg in 1996. She then pursued studies in musicology/early church music, earning a diploma and later a doctorate in art history at the conservatory. Her organ training was with Olga Minkina and Tatjana Tschausova in St. Petersburg.
In Germany, she studied at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Herford with Prof. Dr. Rolf Schönstedt (B-examination, 2005) and at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne (HfMT) with Prof. Dr. Winfried Bönig, focusing on organ performance and church music (A-examination, 2013).
Since 2001, she has performed in Russia, Finland, and Germany with various choirs and soloists, working as an organist and choral conductor. Since February 2014, she has been serving as the cantor at St. Margaretha Church in Wadersloh.
