Matthias Haarmann

Organ

Matthias Haarmann studied church music at the Cologne University of Music. Since his graduation in 1999, he has been working as a full-time church musician in the Catholic Church Community Association Kreuz-Köln-Nord, as well as a composer, pianist, and soloist in numerous concerts both in Germany and abroad. Since 2003, he has been composing in various genres and performing as a pianist at the Gospel Academy Krefeld (with a USA tour in 2004).

Additionally, since 2012, Matthias Haarmann has served as an organist at the Archiepiscopal Seminary of Priests in Cologne.

His repertoire as an organist includes not only many works from the classical organ music tradition across all periods but also jazz pieces and arrangements from the world of Tango Argentino. Another significant aspect of his musical work is improvisation, both in worship services, concerts, and in accompanying silent films. Haarmann has been and continues to be a co-organizer of several church music festivals, as well as the co-organizer and coordinator of the “Night of Mysticism” in 2010, 2012, and in the fall of 2014 at St. Johannes XXIII Church in Cologne-Chorweiler.
